The is the second "catch-up" post describing a fall excursion to the James C. Yerxa preserve in October 2013...
After seeing the fall colours around Hartland during our canoe adventure to Becaguimac Island, I decided to check out the Yerxa preserve in Keswick the following weekend in the hopes of catching the fall colours there.
I remember now that it was a last minute decision to go. I was going to be on my own with Greyson for the afternoon and I decided it would be fun to take him for a drive and see how he would do on a mini-explore in the woods! He was only about 18 months at the time. As you can see in the photo below, he ended up having a really great time!

This site looks like a terrific place to paint, and I am looking forward to more visits in the future. I think choosing the right time of year will be critical to what I decide to paint. When I visited in mid October, many leaves had already fallen. I really love the shapes of the trees, but I would like to see the area again when everything is in full bloom.
Keswick is not far from home, so it will be a site that I can return to fairly regularly.
